Increíble, aún más emocionante por el simple hecho de ser una historia contada a través de los ojos de un niño y su inocencia, hace que cada cosa que he leído en el libro me dieran escalofríos. Como alguien que nunca ha visto la película, no vi venir el momento final, he de ser sincero, eso me dejó impactado y destrozado, porque suponía el final que le esperaba a Shmuel, pero no esperaba que el de Bruno fuese igual.

Bruno hat mich meist ziemlich aufgeregt, weil er halt einfach ein Kind ist und seine Probleme für ihn die größten sind, obwohl es anderen viel schlechter geht, aber er ist halt einfach ein Kind und weiß es nicht besser und genau darum geht‘s ja auch. Es ist auch irgendwie interessant diese Zeit aus den Augen eines Kindes zu sehen, das nicht verstehen kann, was da eigentlich vor sich geht.

Heart wrenching and tragic. Bold exploration of a character on the periphery of the Holocaust. The writing is simple yet poignant. The author interview at the end of the audiobook was great, gave a good sense of closure.

Wow...I think I am in a state of shell shock. This book is great. It really punches you at the end but at the same time the story is told very gently and without anything explicit. The friendship developed between the two boys is very touching and this book very poignantly captures the loss of innocence of a little boy trying to understand what is going on around him. The question that many people have raised - whether it is possible that Bruno would know so little about what was going on around him - to me isn't significant, because the story tells so much more than this and if Bruno had known more the whole point of the book wouldn't exist. It has made me think more about the children in Germany who were caught up in this time and the impact it had on their lives. This is definately worth reading, and only took me 4.5 hours.
