This book reads like a Black Mirror episode and I loved it. It clocks in at around 30-ish pages which is short enough to read in one sitting (I recommend this). I'm always amazed at what talented authors can do in so few pages! And can I just say, officially for the record, MORE CHAPBOOKS PLEASE!

In THE SMILE FACTORY, Keisling swivels the focus around and aims it at YOU, reader.
"You did a bad thing just now, friend."
While this narrative isn't the most popular and not very many books are written in this style, it certainly proved its worth to me in this dark, urban, futuristic, dystopian, cosmic-horror tale (many genres represented in this sleek chapbook!) I liked how I felt like I found myself in this Twilight Zone-bizarro universe!
You are a brand new employee at the world's most f*ucked up place of employment ever--and whatever you do, "We Don't Talk About Marty Godot". As you navigate through this world in which you live, you quickly realize that everything is wrong. Like people bleeding from their eyes kind of wrong.

My attention was grabbed in the first few lines and Todd Keisling's writing did not allow my head to turn to the right or the left the entire time--I was captivated.
I won't discuss anymore of this unique story to you but I will say that I'm very excited I have Keisling's collection of short stories on my TBR pile. Another author to add to my list of "ones to insta-buy"
