A let down after how much I enjoyed ALITF. It was just very slow, and a bit repetative. And I love Sera and Nyktos and while I didn't think the they'd immediately find their way back to one another quickly, most of the book they're apart. But once they're back, hoooo boy.

Most of my reading journal notes involve Kolis and
JLA does an amazingly good job at making him extremely unlikable. I think that's the point so good job.
It gets triggering or at the very least uncomfy at times so don't go into this lightly.

I'm thankful that there will be another book since the connection between FBAA and FAF hasn't fully hit home yet, but this definitely could have been edited down. I didn't have a bad time reading it and did thoroughly enjoy parts, especially Sera being her bad ass self, but it was almost a filler book.

first two thirds of the bill is incredibly dark, graphic confinement, misogyny, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical violence, gaslighting. Do not tread into this lightly.

the series could have ended here and I'd be happy with the character developments and plot resolutions.<Spoiler> JLA has one final book for this series coming out may 7, 2024. It's nice to know that's there's a release date already planned so fans don't have to wait ad infinitum for the resolution of the series

Well. Some of the characters are lovable. Others can rot in the Abyss for eternity.

I have a lot of conflicted feelings about this book. I think I'd struggle to reread it again, and I hate to say that. However, this book was such a trauma fest. Only the last 15% was somewhat palatable, to be honest.
We deserved that smut fest, tbh.
I really struggled with the fact that it took about 60% of the book for Sera and Ash
to reunite. At least in TWOTQ when they were separated for about half the book, Kieran was with Poppy and we also got Cas's POV on the side. This was just never ending trauma, built again and again on Sera, and that was......rough.

There was also SO much info dumping. Like....SO MUCH. I feel like this series is just solid info dumping, so much so that it gets fatiguing after a while. I definitely felt that in this book, and I think the simultaneous trauma Sera endured just made it harder to get through. I really hope someone on insta makes a nice summary infographic on this book, because uuuffffffff.

MAJOR SPOILER:
The smut fest at the end, though. HOT DAMN. And ASH AND HIS LOVE FOR SERA. I FUCKING KNEW IT. I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT.  The best thing about this book is her ascension and Ash loving Sera. (And Sera hacking Solis to pieces, but who's asking...)
