I feel like this was about 300 pages of nothing happening, and then 300 pages of a little bit happening

I would’ve liked this book a lot more if it moved along faster. I skipped chapters 21-30 because I couldn’t handle more of
Kolis being a dick and Sera having the same cycle of thoughts.

But! 31 and on was good and interesting.

I really liked this book but I also skipped half of Sera’s internal monologues, which felt like half the book sometimes. I def cried which I haven’t done since Kingdom of Ash. Part of me wants to give it 4* because the parts I loved I really loved, but there was also a lot of “when does this get good again”

I hated the first 60% of this book.   Sera was so TSTL- distracting Ash, escaping very poorly,  being judgemental of situations she was ignorant of. This book could have been way shorter. I really considered just reading a spoiler. Her internal monologue was so annoying, and their dialogue was repetitive.

My feelings about this book are very similar to my feelings about A Court Of Silver Flames.  I don't buy that she's a badass and a good liar, but constantly having a panic attack. I have anxiety disorder and don't need to read about her nonstop breathing exercises, just like i didn't need to read about Nesta going through CBT.   I'm reading fantasy for an escape.

At least it was pretty spicy.

The story of Sartoria finally explains a lot about FBAA.  I wish she had played a larger role and have been more active from within Sera.
