The school where Luke is at has a number of kids with autism and agoraphobia. One of the characters makes negative comments about them that I did not appreciate. To be fair, the character turns out to be a bad guy so it's not exactly portrayed as a good thing. There's also a brief note about boys drawing pictures of naked girls.

This is a great continuation to the Shadow Children series. (If you haven’t yet read the first book, [b:Among the Hidden|227651|Among the Hidden (Shadow Children, #1)|Margaret Peterson Haddix|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388382796l/227651._SX50_.jpg|1210896], you’ll want to read it before reading this one.)
This book picks up where the last book left, with Luke going to a school under a fake identity. It was great watching Luke grow into himself. I loved how the book showed both his fears and hesitations, and how he slowly overcomes these, and take action to improve his life, and the lives of the shadow children around him.
This is a clean coming of age story, in a well built world, with many interesting characters, and lots of excitement. Recommended to young fans of sci-fi.
