Just like the first, this book has a slow build, then a very intense climax. In some ways. Reading this series is definitely a trust the process kind of thing.

Read this to my fifth graders and they were hooked every day and begged me to read more!
Picking up where the first book left off, Margaret Peterson Haddix's "Among the Impostors" is the second installment in the Shadow Children series. Like its predecessor, it builds suspense gradually, accelerating towards a thrilling climax in the final pages. This sequel might even surpass the first book.
While the protagonist remains somewhat passive at times, allowing events to unfold around him, his character undergoes a clear transformation throughout the story. Haddix skillfully crafts a believable cause-and-effect dynamic for his actions. One plot point might involve a character acting as a convenient solution, but the overall quality of the writing helps the reader overlook this.
Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to exploring the remaining books in the Shadow Children series.

Decent kid's book. A little predictable, but loved by one of my sons, so I will finish the series.
