High Lights
- Wallace is THE MOST ADORABLE GREATEST MOST WONDERFUL BEAN ON THE PLANET. *ahem* I mean. He's great. He's a dorky fan fiction writer and I love him. <333 HE TALKS THROUGH NOTES GUYS. SO ADORKABLE.
- I don't often read contemporary books, but the setting in this story was just SO FABULOUS. Part of the reason I don't read contemporary is because the setting doesn't interest me. But this was just so well done and I loved the little town of Westcliff. <3
- The characters were SO HILARIOUS AND BELIEVEABLE. They really just felt like real people I wanted to hang out and be friends with. All the Monstrous Sea fans just. Agh. So great.
- MONSTROUS SEA. Eliza's brain child was SO AMAZING AND CAN THERE BE AN ACTUAL MONSTROUS SEA GRAPHIC NOVEL LIKE PLEASE.
- Eliza was such a complex character. In so many ways I could relate to her and feel what she was feeling. She's just a girl trying to find herself, where she's supposed to go, what she should be doing. I get that so much.
- I loved all the different formatting!! There was online forums, texting, bits of Monstrous Sea, letters, I just LOVED IT. ^_^
- I just really loved how writers and fans were represented in this. It felt cozy and friendly. I know about this. I relate to this. I feel at home. <333

Low Lights
- I really didn't like how Eliza treated her family. I get that she's struggling and doesn't quite know how to interact with people, but I mean. Your parents care. Talk to them. Tell them how you feel. Don't silently hole away and then be mad at them for not 'understanding'. -__-
- There was also a great deal of swearing that I felt was really unnecessary, so I had to knock a star off for that.

Conclusion
This was SOOOOO CUTE GUYS. Wallace is a precious little thing and Eliza is so relatable and human. Though I can't really recommend it, since there was so much swearing in it. If you're willing to look past that, this is a totally cute, surprisingly deep contemporary that represents fans and writers in such a great way. <3
