The stories in this book inhabit my favourite spaces in fiction - the places were the fantastical emerges from the mundane, the corners where the sweep of a flashlight allows us a glimpse of the weird, the horrific and the tragically funny. These tales are darkling gems, full of odd, indelible images (I will NEVER forget the characters in the brilliant The Three Familiars) but told with a wry, knowing wisdom that leaves its mark deep.

I bloody loved these stories, and look forward to reading them again many times.
