I started reading this with my nephew, but I sneakily finished it without him. I guess that makes me the real awful auntie :D

I adored that book as a kid and still do now, I forgot a lot about this book and still got surprised at times.

Thoroughly entertaining. The good characters are completely lovable and the bad ones absolutely despicable. I'm sure Walliams is frequently compared to the great Roald Dahl. Even the illustrations are similar to those of Sir Quentin Blake, making this feel even more like a Dahl creation.

As all other books by David Walliams, I loved it. Listened to the last half of the book as audiobook on 2x speed whilst I read along. I have no idea why but towards the end of the book I was definitely getting a Maltida vibe, I've had this feeling with some of his other books. But I recommend that everyone of any age reads his books...your never too old to enjoy David Walliams

This review is written by my younger sister, Megan, who is 8 years old.

I like the book because it has some sort of adventures in it. We meet a ghost who is a chimney sweep and there is a twist with this character. It was not funny I would say, it was quite weird, but good weird.

I would give it 10/10. I would recommend it to a friend because I think they would like it. I think they would also find it a bit weird and give it a high mark out of ten.

Reread a childhood favourite to help me out of a slump. David Walliams is such a good author and honestly I adore this story
