really inspiring. good mix of funny and blunt - much better than anything ive heard
Everyone needs a thing that guides them. I'm glad I found my thing is this speech.
David Foster Wallace speaks capital-T Truth “with a whole lot of rhetorical bullshit pared away.” I could have underlined every page.
Speaking of pages, the book is formatted in such a way that makes it incredibly easy to read. Each page contains only a sentence or two, which means that it takes no time at all to complete. In the same breath, it is also a waste of paper. All those pages that are mostly blank. I’m sure that, had the speech been printed continuously sentence after sentence, this would be a pamphlet and not a book.

Another gem I found at the library that I finished in two trips on the tram. The author talked about the importance of consciously directing our attention in day-to-day life. We are what we pay attention to. And no, I haven’t read any of his works.

Good gift book for a graduation or change in circumstance. About living a life with intention.
Commencement speech published as a little booklet. Nothing that’s new to me but I think holds a lot of truth and poignancy for someone struggling with certainty, the meaning of life, and how to shift your mindset from being self centered to whatever brings you peace.
This book was amazing. It discusses the importance of choosing your mindset. I really enjoyed the way it incorporated cliche stories to mirror our daily thoughts and actions
Listened to as an audiobook.
Thought provoking and interesting- this speech did a really good job of reminding individuals to keep things in perspective and make an earnest effort to refrain you way of thinking. I would definitely recommend it and can see myself revisiting it in the future.
