This was such a bizarre tale. It hardly includes the Snow Queen. If you are expecting something similar to Frozen, which is supposedly inspired by The Snow Queen, you'll be disappointed. This is just a silly, fairy tale for younger readers. There is a religious aspect to the tale.

The story wasn't bad. It's similar to other fairy tales from the time period, I've just seen so much beautiful art of the snow queen herself, and that's just such a very minute part of the story. This is about two children and their adventures.

This felt like a fever dream.

Don't really know how to rate this tbh.

I was invited to read The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen to my daughter's 3rd grade class. I learned that Hans Christian Andersen wrote 168 tales during his lifetime, which impressed me a lot.

This version of the tale is beautifully illustrated by one of my favorite illustrators, Mary Englebreit. The illustrations were very bright and cheerful, and really added to the experience of the story.

The Snow Queen of course is what the movie Frozen is based on. There are many differences between the book and the movie, but both are wonderful versions in my opinion. No Olaf in the book! : )

The tale of The Snow Queen is definitely worthwhile, and I recommend it (especially this version with the Englebreit illustrations) to any reader who likes fairy tales and/or wants to see what inspired the movie Frozen.

A delightful short story of a favorite children's tale and a perfect fit to listen to on Christmas day.

Gorgeous illustrations are the highlight of this adaptation that is longer and more complicated than I remember the earlier versions I've read. This is a book for older picture book listeners and adults.
