This was incredibly eye-opening...I read this one for school, and our teacher read it aloud to us(so that we wouldn't have to read it on our own). It's very graphic in some parts, but not in an accusatory way, just a you-need-to-know-what's-happening sort of way (I read the other day that there are more slaves now then there were in the time of the Civil War. This is actually relevant to current circumstances
). It's amazing to know that, when Douglass wrote this, his education was basically limited to knowing the alphabet and stealing a few newspapers. Definitely worth the read.

Read for school but super emotional and a very eye opening & educational read for what slavery was like for a slave that found freedom. Excellently written and educated.
