I always give myself a hundred pages of a book to decide if it’s worth it or not to continue. The answer was absolutely not. I couldn’t care less about the characters or the story. I was left confused and with questions only- about everything. Quite literally nothing was answered at all before even more questions popped up in the book. The whole deal with the forest doesn’t make sense, the world building doesn’t make sense, I had no hope for any outcome. I didn’t even understand any action sequences because I felt blindfolded through the entire 100 pages. Such a terrible book. I feel like I shouldn’t even donate it it’s so bad.

Great premise but the writings a little choppy. And the ending feels like they could have done that to begin with (joined powers) but it’s a great cliffhanger and a SLOOOOOW BURN.

This book sucks you in pretty quickly. The fantasy world was unique and interesting, and while it’s marketed as a twist on Little Red Riding Hood, there were some Beauty and the Beast vibes in there, too. It’s one of those books that blurs the line between good and evil, and forces you to face the reasons why some people turn towards darkness. The road to hell truly is paved with the best intentions, and if you don’t have access to the truth, how can you make an informed decision? How can you be held accountable if you genuinely couldn’t have known any better?

i absolutely ate this book up, i never wanted to put it down. the characters and world building are so amazing, it is the first book in a while (after stardust by neil gaiman) that i was able to fully immerse myself into the story and get completely lost in the pages, i’m left in a trance after finishing it.
