This was a solid 4 star book. I like the second chance romance, which is a trope I am not normally a fan of. I really liked Ayden and Laney both individually and together, they just fit together so well. I also love their daughter Serena, she was chatty and a bright light. As it was a novella, I wasn't expecting the stuff with Ayden's dad and it did go a bit crazy at the end. There was one moment at the end which was a bit far fetched and you very much has to suspend your disbelief with. However, the writing was so good and it set up the first actual novel (book 1) in this series really well and I am so intrigued by the couple that it will follow. Overall, a really good time, even with the unbelievable moments.
Minor: Alcoholism, Child abuse, Death, Domestic abuse, Physical abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, Toxic relationship, Violence, Car accident, Abortion, Murder, Pregnancy, and Injury/Injury detail
for the most part this was off page and mentioned as things that happened in the past, however there are a few flash backs/reflections on the events.inbooktravels's review against another edition

The Hero: Ayden
The Heroine: Laney
AUDIO LEGHT: 4h37m
My thoughts: My first with Brooke and I loved. You know novellas are not my pick usually because I feel the romance moves too fast, but this one is second chance so the couple is trying again now for reasons. I'm not going to spoil anything in saying this one had a secret baby trope that perfectly fits within the story. There's a little bit of angst related to past and that was the reason for the break up. Loved the narrators, CJ Bloom is always great and Bradley Ford was the first listen for and I feel like he was the perfect one for Ayden.
