Fairy Tail rolls on entertainingly. This time, our heros endeavor to aid the inhabitants of a demon-cursed island. Gray's ice-magic and Natsu's fire-magic are on great display as they battle a demon and members of another Dark Guild. Reader's are introduced to Lyra, another of Lucy's celestial spirits. Lucy continues to be my favorite character of the manga, although I do enjoy them all. Lucy's blend of strength, bravery, occasional self-doubt, and optimism makes for a fascinating character. Plus, Hiro Mashima's frequent pinup-style splash pages of Lucy are super sexy-cute. Fairy Tail is strong in story and in artwork, continuing to entertain, engage, and delight.

65/100.

Curses, and demons, and gigantic vermin: Oh My!

Although the rate I am making my way through this series offers the impression that this series is an easy read and an easy read only that is only part of the truth; this series is also fun and all of the little and large discoveries along the way will cause the reader to not part with the volume(s) until the final turn of their tomare page.

We are going to see a lot of growth for our band of heroes as they attempt to become S-Class guild members. One quote, "The you of the past is gone! You're now so strong! Never hesitate!" - Lyra, Gate of the Harpist (124), will be their mantra as they strive to advance in rank, and in job levels.

This line stood out to me not only because of how its beauty and truth was able to cause Gray, Natsu, Lucy and Happy to realign with their inner and outer self, but also due to the fact I am going through a time of change myself and could use the reassurance that the past happened (for better or worse) and I am improved due to its end. That improvement will cause us all to see the future in an encouraging light.

Will the previously mentioned curses, demons, and gigantic vermin be resolved in volume 5, or is this the mere beginning for several volumes to come? The only way to find out is to request the next book in the series!

This manga has my heart.

I mean the volumes and characters are so over the top but that is exactly why I like it. And over the top does not mean bad, oh no, the story is really addictive and the world is just amazing and man, yeah, enjoyed the heck out of this.

A new volume and tons of fun this time! Tons of action as well as our baka trio (and later quartet, sorry Gray, but you are a dash of baka as well) goes to a demon island to take on the S-quest! Yup. S-quest. Dumb ways to die? It was really fun to see them take the quest and then also go for it despite the danger. We meet new characters (before the island and while on the island), we get some more backstory (which I loved to bits), there are some epic fights, a scary purple moon, and a demon in ice. It was a ride! I loved each bit of it and I cannot wait to read on and see how this arc will end + how much terrifying energy Erza will bring. The bonus story made me laugh!
