I love how this book is separated into chapters in both the "girl's" perspective as well as Drew's. This book had me going through a range of emotions. Anxious, sad, heartbroken, hopeful.... It was really well written!
Drew, as the boyfriend of the missing girl, unfortunately has been the point of blame for the town and the sheriff. The girl with no memory is learning more about herself as experiences give her clues as to who she is before her "accident." The balance between their two perspectives really helps shape this story piece by piece!

Generally this would have been a strong 3.75 stars but that plot twist added some extra to it, I really did not see that coming.

SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD

i cant even bring myself to truly be happy for madison no matter how glad i am that she's safe and no matter terrified and creeped out i was for her the entire time she was with that man, because i just feel really sorry for drew after all this. yeah, he saved another girl from a cruel fate, but jesus. boy did not deserve to suffer through being treated like the devil incarnate for a crime nobody even had real evidence of him committing, only for his mission to rescue lola to end like that.

more importantly, FUCK sheriff roane. embarrassing ass man, had his own DAUGHTER and a bunch of kids doing his job better than him just because his incompetent ass doesn't wanna be embarrassed for not making enough effort to solve this case. and after all that, he still has the audacity to take credit for drew's heroism and become a consult for the trashy netflix adaptation?? ooh he's not seeing heaven. he doesn't deserve to have a last name like chappell roan's, punyetang inutil hijo de puta! autumn sweetie im SO sorry. i'm so sorry that an ugly ass bitch like him is your dad.

RIP to miss lola, god bless madison, max and autumn, and justice for drew. i hope his sweet dads get him the help he needs and far away from that hellish town full of fake bitches!

TLDR; fun concept and premise, but disappointingly mediocre and not as twisty as i was told and i'd hoped it would be. like a predictable hoe however, i was still invested and devoured it one sitting. i even teared up a bit. overall takeaway is that the predictability didn't necessarily make it bad bc it was executed well enough (to me, at least). i just wish there was more to the story, but i still enjoyed it. solid 3 stars

I loved this book so MUCH. It's rare that I feel such love and tenderness for male characters, but Max and Drew just stole my heart. I cried so much at the last few scenes lol I thought it was a really smart depiction of trauma and grief and kind of the community mob mentality of being totally for or totally against you. Drew was so steadfast in his search, and Max was such a helpful himbo, and it was just so great. Cannot WAIT to see more from Ms. Lally.
