I'm not usually a thriller reader but this book kept me hooked.
I can't imagine being the girl, waking up in a random ditch, all messed up, not have a single memory of who I am, what happened to me and then have a "random" person saying they are my dad. Having to live with him without being 100% sure of who he is and what his intentions are. And finally getting bits of memories back and you start to understand that something is wrong and you are not the person he says you are...

At the same time I can't imagine being Drew and having to live with the blame that you are the culprit of your girlfriend going missing and having all people on the town blame you for it. But not backing down in the quest of finding her and getting justice for yourself.

The story is really nice and really believable, which makes it even more creepier. The dual POV really makes you think that the "Mary" Wayne has in his cabin is Lola and when you reach the ending and realise that Lola was already dead a long while ago... It really shattered my heart into pieces... Drew fought so hard to save her and he never had a change from the beginning. At least Madison had a chance to survive thanks to him.
The epilogue for sure made the book go up half a star in my rating, it made me so sad. It was a really nice interaction between Drew and Madison, and her making him understand that it was his fault Lola was taken, because no matter what happened, she would never escape the ending the met.

For sure want to read the rest of this author works, because this book as a debut is amazing.

Forgot to write a review so don’t remember as much but this was good and unique to me
dark mysterious tense fast-paced

Besides the title making a particular song ring in my head every time I opened its pages and dived into the mystery of our missing girl, this is quite a hefty read.
That’s Not My Name wastes no time throwing us into the action. A lost girl wakes up in a ditch with no memory of what happened before. She is found by the police and soon after whisked away by her father, who has all the paperwork to prove she is his daughter. Of course, for us readers, it all seems fishy, but the officer, seeing the foolproof evidence, hands Mary over to him.
After two chapters, we switch perspectives to Drew, a boy accused of doing something to his girlfriend, Lola, who has been missing for a month. Drew is desperately trying to find Lola and clear his name, but no one is willing to look for her anymore; they all want to use him as a scapegoat.
Are Mary and Lola the same person? Can Drew find Lola? Will Mary get her memory back? Will Drew and his two friends be able to save her? These are the questions you’ll find yourself asking as you read.
Being a Young Adult book, it does carry the vibe of a Netflix teen thriller, but that also makes it a quick and easy read. That didn’t bother me at all, as I was completely invested in the story. And from all the mystery/thriller novels I’ve read this year, That’s Not My Name delivers the most satisfying ending, and may even bring a tear to your eye.
