In this YA thriller, we follow two teenagers: Mary, who wakes up with amnesia after a traumatic incident, and Drew, who is desperate to find his missing girlfriend, Lola, and ultimately clear his name with the local police department.

This was a fun, quick thriller! It was unique to have the story so openly obvious from the very beginning, and while it was obvious where the story was leading, the twist at the end still shocked me. I could easily see this book being a movie and doing well; it was action-packed and gave me anxiety most of the way through.

My only real issue with the story was how unbelievable the characters felt at times, primarily those in Drew’s world.

Overall, this was a fun little thriller, and I think anyone who is looking for a book to break up a reading slump will enjoy this one!

I’ll admit, while I was definitely enjoying reading this, I was thinking that it was a little bit predictable since I clearly thought
Lola and Mary are the same, so I was very pleasantly surprised when the twist turned out that Lola had been the Mary before and this girl was not the one Drew was searching for.
Some of the writing felt a bit juvenile, but I can give that a pass since the characters are all around 17 years old. Some of the stuff was a bit unrealistic too (
like how much pain a 17 year old girl or even a grown man can withstand, the incompetence of the cops, the ease with which these high schoolers solved this mystery…
), but I still enjoyed reading the book overall and appreciated the twist.
