The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches was very adorable and very affirming. I try very hard in reviews not to do much plot rehashing, because that is what the back cover of the book and the Goodreads blurb are for. So, this may be unfulfilling for some in its paucity, but here goes.
The Very Secret Society...., to me, is such an excellent book because every single character in the book cares so very much in their own individual grouchy or overly-enthusiastic or quiet or stubborn or violent, etc. ways. And, the biggest conflicts appear because their styles of caring rub up against each other. So, the stress points of the book (and there are few), revolve around wondering HOW everyone is going to be able to work together rather than IF they will be able to do so. I enjoyed that very much. I also loved the laugh-out-loud one liners sprinkled through the text, "That is some Mary Poppins shit!" being an example that both my adult daughter (who recommended the book to me) and I put near the top of our list.
The only thing I wish were different about the book is that I thought the climax and ending were slightly cramped and could have had more detail without making the story seem too long. Still a solid 5 stars. And, I hope there are both a prequel and a sequel coming out at some point.

I would like to formally petition that people stop recommending this book for spooky season and start recommending it as the perfect winter/December read. Big shout out to Meci on Tiktok for convincing me to read it in December!
This was such a perfect (for me) cozy fantasy.
I prefer my cozy fantasy to have medium stakes and a plot that doesn't move too slow. This book did not disappoint.
There is found family, a friends to lovers romantic subplot, and a plot twist I did NOT see coming!
The audio performance was spectacular!
