I think there are some things that are interesting and some things that are whatever.

I think this book makes a lot of sense for 18-24 year olds to read. It can be very affirming.

However, the writing quality is super random.

This has a LOT of cliche pieces of advice and doesn't include a single true essay. Each "essay" is really just a list.

I did get a sense of comfort from realizing someone else had the same feelings and experiences that I do, but I felt everything to be very surface level. Pieces of advice were repeated between different "essays" as well.

If I'd bought this book it would be two stars, but because I borrowed it from the library I'm a little more forgiving lol

Sure there are some repetitive portions of the book and I’m not taking everything to heart, but that’s the great thing about essay style books - you can pick and choose what you like! This book honestly said some things I needed to hear and has given me a lot to think about. For that, I’ll call this a reading win!

This book feels like a collection of Instagram quotes and medium articles squashed into an essay. It gave me some perspective. This is a book you'd leave out on your coffee table so people can read a few pages at a time. It's alright.

I’m surprised by so many low reviews of this book. I found useful, thought-provoking information and ideas in every single essay. So what if the writer is young? So what if the writer curated ideas and philosophies? It’s a pop-lit self-help book, for goddess’ sake, not a PhD dissertation.

I feel grateful that she took the time to amass so many potent ideas from what I felt was a place of generosity.

I read this book over the course of three weeks. In retrospect, I wish I had read an essay a day because inevitably, I would need to stop and think about a concept or question and let the information marinate.

Highly recommend this book. Skim through the essay titles and start with the ones that resonate with your current situation.
