WOW! I have read Lost in You so, so many times. I can't believe I never reviewed it. I love this young love, forbidden romance. It is a major rollercoaster of love.

Ryan Stone has a crappy life. Overly strict parents and a lack of money gives him few to no future prospects. His life changes when is best friend wins tickets to a concert. She drags Ryan along, kicking and screaming. After all he doesn't even have a radio. He was clueless to who Hadley Carter was.

With just one look, Harley knew that she needed to get to know Ryan. She is persistent. He can't say no. Lost in You is the story of their struggles to meet. Lost in You is their story of forbidden romance and what can happen when you do what you shouldn't. Lost in You is a story of chance that gave me all the feels each and every time I have read it.

Listening to the audiobook gives me just as many feels.

Why did it take me so long to read this book? I loved it.

I think this book started out good, we have a guy who has a craptastic relationship with his dad and a mother who is calm and quiet and wants to keep the dad happy. then we have a country singer who is managed by a micromanaging uncle who makes all decisions for her. OK. so they meet and sparks fly causing problems, problems escalate and boy and girl can't be together. It was drawn out in some places, and then not enough detail in others..the second half of the book thru me off track a bunch i didn't understand why it was necessary for both of them to move on the way they did, and those relationships just be calm and ok with not working out. Its a decent book, just wasn't one of my favorites

I honestly could take or leave this book. There was just too much that didn't seem realistic. There were positive things within the story, but the story itself didn't grab me like I want stories to do.

I should not have read this book. Actually, I want to erase it from my mind. The beginning was completely unbelievable. I can understand instant attraction, but these two declared their devotion to each other so quickly that it was uncomfortable. On top of that, the inequality in their life differences made everything very awkward. I think I could have gotten into their relationship more if I had believed strongly in their connection. But when Ryan asks Hadley to tell him why she likes she likes him, everything she says is either a physical attribute or about the way he makes her feel. Neither of those reasons are anything deep or lasting.

The second half was much more believable but I did NOT enjoy any of it. The stressful parts dragged on too long. I personally do not like endless angst. In fact I skimmed pretty much the last 30%.
SpoilerFrom the point that Ryan gets together with Dylan. I get it. But it made me supremely uncomfortable. I never saw much chemistry between them, and I didn't need to watch them in any detailed way. It made me cringe. I know this is my own personal issue, but I cannot deal with detailed scenes featuring two different people. Even if they are appropriately spaced apart, and even when it's clear who the characters are actually in love with.
.

This book just covered too much time, and I felt like I was stressed or on edge for too much of it. I wish this had been split into two books, One featuring the characters as they were the first half of the story, and the second with them as they were at the end, cutting down on most of the material in the second half. I wanted to get to know the characters at the end of the book better, instead of seeing a tiny glimpse and being told about how they'd changed. I had barely warmed up to them again, and was still struggling to get back into their relationship after so much angst, when the book ended.

I would not call this story a true triangle, but these characters spend a lot of time at odds and acted as if it was one. At one point I truly wished that the end was about them getting over each other and moving on with their lives with other people. It was honestly too much for me personally to enjoy this book. I wish I'd DNF'd this early on and saved myself the agony.

However, I think this is an interesting concept, and if you can forgive the very fast insta-love beginning, and believe that they had a strong and lasting connection, you may really enjoy the second half if you don't have the same quirky issues with relationships that I do.

I really enjoyed this book. But toward the ending the it became a bit confusing because she doesn't let you know that years have gone by. If she had said One year later, etc... It jumps around a lot and is confusing.

Ryan is a great character, he seems a bit stiff and stilted in the beginning, but once the author gets into his character he really comes alive. Hadley didn't have that issue. I know there is a 5 year age difference, but the dialogue was a bit choppy.

Heidi is an amazing author and her stories are so full of heart. She can really tug at those heartstrings and you want the best for the characters. Even the ones you don't like.

More detailed review to come.

Is there a guy out there without a celebrity crush? There’s something about movie stars and pop singers that we find appealing. They’re not only attractive, they’re…admirable in a role model way. What if you had a chance to meet one of them? As for me, I’d die happy if I were to meet Dakota Fanning or Lily Collins in real life. They’re incredibly gorgeous.

That’s sort of the premise of this book. The main character, Ryan Stone, couldn’t be more average if his life depended on it. He’s pretty much unremarkable. Ryan also doesn’t own a smartphone, or even an iPod. He lives in the small town of Brookfield, wishing for graduation to come so he can leave. As if that wasn’t enough, Ryan’s parents hardly care about him. Ryan is particularly wary about his father, who's the definition of ‘strict’.

In contrast, Hadley Carter is a parallel to the likes of Selena Gomez. She’s a famous, successful musician currently on a tour. Hadley even has Grammys under her belt already. This girl has pretty much everything, but what she wishes for is to find love. Unfortunately, Hadley is not only too busy for a serious relationship. She is wary about it. Hadley went through a scandalous breakup years ago, one that still haunts her. She isn’t sure she can trust a guy with her heart again.

Ryan is one of the few people at his high school who doesn’t know who Hadley Carter is. Music is out of his budget. One day, Dylan Ross (Ryan’s best friend) wins tickets and a backstage pass to Hadley’s concert. She invites Ryan to come along with her. After the concert ends, they go backstage. When Hadley lays eyes on Ryan, she feels an instant, powerful attraction. Ryan, though, is absurdly shy. Hadley decides to have a party at her hotel so she can introduce herself. It surprised me a little when she reveals she’s attracted to Ryan. Unfortunately, there’s a huge obstacle: Ryan is seventeen, and Hadley is twenty-two.

Hadley curses her luck. Despite this, she still pursues a relationship with Ryan. Hadley thinks she’ll be able to keep things PG until Ryan turns eighteen in a few months. Ryan, though, feels elated that such a beautiful, unreachable girl likes him. He doesn't take advantage of her, though. Ryan's a gentleman with Hadley. However, his "infatuation" with her drives a thorn into Dylan’s side. Ryan doesn’t know why she appears bothered. Hadley does fear that Dylan might want more than a friendship with Ryan. He doesn’t realize this, because Ryan sees Dylan as nothing more than a friend. They’ve been that way for years.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster. Will Ryan and Hadley end up together, or is their age gap and social differences too much? I identified with Ryan a lot. Like me, he had the bad luck of being born in a shitty town. Ryan's situation is still much worse than mine, though. I admire him for pulling through and not giving up on his dreams. I also like Hadley’s character. She’s not spoiled, as you’d expect given her job and social status. Hadley is hard not to like, and someone to admire. She loves meeting fans and giving back to them, rather than let fame and money get to her head. Hadley’s one of my favorite book heroines now, along with Camryn Bennett of The Edge of Never.

My rating: ★★★★ 1/2
