Certainly not the best written book I’ve ever read, and many of the chapters felt wholly independent from each other, repeating similar anecdotes or an entire passage at one point. But the good stuff in here is great. Cone has a really great mind for pitching and an impressive ability to relate what he knows in an approachable and clear way. I particularly enjoyed some of the more behind the scenes sections from the late 90s Yankees teams, and the last section of the book where Cone breaks down some specific legendary hitters and how he faced them. Strongly recommended for any baseball fan.

The single best baseball book I have ever read. Cone is brutally honest but not once harsh. He and Curry have crafted an incredible book of instruction on pitching and not once is it complicated or boring or too technical. It may very well be the one book on pitching I have waited years for but never knew I needed until after I started reading it. Such a gift to one who loves to read and loves baseball.

Really enjoyed this one - I appreciated how Cone was so open with his struggles and successes. Good insights into the life and thinking of an elite MLB pitcher.

This book is almost like attending a clinic in pitching sprinkled with personal anecdotes of life as an MLB pitcher. Really enjoyed Coney's candor and easy ways of explaining what it means to be a pitcher. Well written by Jack Curry - I'll end up re-reading this book at some point!
