Very well written and does an excellent job of giving you an understanding of Oppenheimer the man, his friends, enemies, their time and how so much of what they did shapes our world today.
The 2 star rating is not for the quality of the book but for my enjoyment of it. I may have greatly overestimated mg interest in the subject after seeing the film. A Wikipedia page probably would have satisfied my curiosity but still glad I finished.

Wow.
Admittedly, I picked up this book after the movie came out which means I’m not an “OG” Oppie fan. Regardless of when I read the book, I can’t believe the detail that went into this piece of art.
25 years in the making… Bird and Sherwin not only captured the important details from Oppenheimer’s life, they also provided us with deep explanations of everyone Oppenheimer interacted with in a meaningful way. For all the detail that went into this book, I think what was missing was the repercussions Lewis Strauss faced after the 1954 torturing of Oppenheimer. I so wished to read about how he got what he deserved.
What a dense, challenging, but also rewarding piece of literature. The book reflected Oppenheimer in more ways than one in that regard.
