Kind of interesting but honestly liked the movie better this was really just a series of events written in not that interesting of a way.
What an incredible book, story and human being. One of the most thorough biographies I’ve ever read - as well as a heckuva read.

Absolutely didn’t need to be this long, but what an interesting man
After watching Oppenheimer 3 times in fairly quick succession, I felt that I needed to read this book to learn more about the life of the complicated and controversial figure that is Robert Oppenheimer. American Prometheus is an incredibly comprehensive biographical work. It astounds me the amount of time taken to put this book together (25 years!), but it clearly shows in both the breadth and depth of this book. Highly recommend.

I finally finished this monstrosity of a book after starting to read it in the dead of winter. This may be the most impressive piece of research and historical analysis that exists… I guess when you have every conversation that a man had for decades, there’s a lot of material to work with.
Oppenheimer was a genius but extremely troubled and lowkey a coward. I half respect him. I recommend this book if you love historical tea and can stomach a very long book.
4.5 stars because I’m bad at reading.

A very well written book, the author's command of the subject matter is impressive, almost textbook-like. Painfully detailed at parts, and some difficult threads to follow, but a sweeping tale and love, loss, triumph and tragedy.
