this *should* have technically been right up my alley, so i'm probably going to blame my foul mood for not liking this as much as i thought i would. since this is essentially a collection of short to very, very short pieces of writing, some of them were absolutely brilliant; unfortunately, the majority of them, for me, just didn't hit the mark

"My vulnerability is natural, and permissable, and beautiful to me, and it should remind you of your responsibility to behave like a friend, to me, and the world."
.
This was just such a lovely listen. A total adventure and a unique reflection on life, love, grief, death, intimacy, wildness, and other little oddities in life. It was so poetic and lyrical, with the weirdest, yet somehow totally relatable, perspectives. It made me feel grateful to be alive, with all the waves and feelings of life. It was strange, but beautiful. It made me well-up multiple times, but always with happy-sad tears.

DNF // stopped at about 50% of the way through
back to back DNF’s is a bleak bookish reality but one i have had to be a big girl and brave through this past weekend.
to be honest, even from the cover i had the sneaking suspicion i would not gel with the overall “vibes” of this book of what is essentially short essay written in some kind of funky prose.
for me, the writing and all its stylistic flourishes was a bit much - edging more on LARGE weirds as opposed to the advertised “little”
and don’t get me wrong, i say this as a knowingly very weird individual myself, but alas, this simply did not “hit”
it just felt awkward and stunted by its own need to tout originality and quirkiness
and so in the loving spirit of yolo i quittttttttt
