3.45 stars. pretty disappointed by this book since i loved the first one so much. it was an okay book. i guess it’s considered slow burn because of the length of the book but it didn’t give me those slow burn butterflies where i longed for them to just hold hands for once. the premise of the book was okay. the marriage of convenience didn’t really flow well in this story for me. i also didn’t like how she came back to him when he literally spewed crap about her to his brother. saying how she’s obsessed with him and how he can never love her and just shit like that. she forgave him way too easily and he never even groveled once. she just came crawling back. i also hated how even after he lost her, he still was trying to ‘convince himself’ he didn’t love her and kept saying how he can never love her and blah blah blah after he lost her. i really don’t think he understood the severity of losing her. losing her didn’t open his eyes at all. he was still in denial about his love for her for weeks after he lost her. like huh? shouldn’t he have opened his eyes and really said wow, i loved her so much, why did i lose such an amazing women instead of the constant denial.

This is book 2 in the Bad Chicago Bosses series and it features Paige and Ward. Paige is a beautiful, smart, and educated art lover and she needs a job. Any job! She lands a job as an executive assistant to 3 senior partners in an architectural firm.  Ward is an architect and CEO and one of her new bosses.  A meeting the night  before has Ward trying to get Paige fired before she even starts.  Let the games begin! These two have major chemistry underneath the judgmental attitude, snarky comments and coffee mishaps.

The story line was perfect and played throughout the book without a single boring moment. I really felt like I was watching things happen instead of just reading it. I was given all the background information on the major characters and was left with no unanswered questions.  I love when that happens! I also loved this SIZZLING HOT fake engagement/office romance story.
