I loved this series when I first read it, but I'm a bit more iffy on parts of it now. The main 'romance' feels forced and frankly awful, and there are a lot of bits that make me squint. The battles, though - some of the best battle writing I've read in ages, and I LOVE the way the magic system is handled.
