This was the first Assassin's Creed book I have read. I like the take on the French revolution that this book provides. It is more about a woman's quest for revenge, and the changes revenge will cause in a person.
There were some slow parts but it has made me interested in the game series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a huge fan of Assassins Creed games, Unity being one of my favourites, it was great to see a different perspective, from Elise. I love the time period of this story - the backdrop being the French Revolution, and the lore was very strong throughout. It was interesting that it was entirely written through diary entries, but also at the same time I feel it could have been more detailed if it was not. Sometimes the writing felt a little rushed, and some of it was unnecessary. Overall though it was a very good read and I hope to read more of the Assassins Creed books!

If Ubisoft had been smarter, Elise de la Sarre would've been a bigger deal in Unity's in game story. Instead, she's relegated to a side novel to fully expand both her origins and motivations of the events leading up to and during the game.
Told through her diary given to Arno after the events of the game, you learn about the girl who was so... complicated in the original story and you get to see how complicated she truly is. It brings into sharp relief how much neither her nor Arno really knew who the other was.
I probably wouldn't recommend this to someone who hadn't played the games, or at least watched a cutscene compilation of the plot as things make much more sense there. But Oliver Bowden once again does a stellar job of filling in the details.
Justice for Elise. Justice for Jennifer Scott
