Stay away if you are not into trans-humanism.

The book leaves so much behind that would make the topic so much more interesting, that it becomes a dumbed-down bestseller for giving people with age crisis hope for the future.

Completely mind blowing, more than a little frightening, and completely convincing. As I compose this review I am now thinking about the algorithms that will use this information. I am also left with some deep unease because it is difficult to see what my place in the world is, if Harari's predictions come to pass. I was interested to see that he never touched on parenting as a human ability and how raising children might change. He does discuss algorithms choosing partners but doesn't discuss human relationships much further than that. As a stay at home mom I already exist apart from the economic systems discussed. I wonder if motherhood could also become obsolete. Do we turn more and more of the work of parenting over to AI teachers and programs? There is so much worth considering here and a lot to mull over.

Seemed to be a lot of overlap with “Sapiens,” but yet it’s five stars for me. I’m not sure I could ever tire of Harari’s ideas and trains of thought. He’s brilliant.

I love Harari, but this book is his most speculative, and less satisfying than Sapiens and 21 Tips
