I was considering giving this book a 4.5 because
I felt the end dragged on wayyyy too long + the writing was a bit too "here's a revelation about the world and let's not dwell"
, but I've been thinking about it for days now so it gets a 5 star. It's literally so well crafted and written and it's so creepy and tense. I don't usually like these sorts of books but maybe I'll read the rest of Iain Reid's work because I liked this one so much.

I’ve heard several people say they don’t like this book, and I understand why they think that. But this book really worked for me. I found it to be clever and sufficiently unnerving/scary. The more I think about it, the more I enjoy it.

Twists and turns describe this unsettling book. Constantly on edge, readers of this book will follow an empty relationship as they head towards the scariest part of any couple: meeting a significant other's parents.
