YES PLEASE! This was such a fun take on a forbidden romance in a historical setting. After a one night stand, our main characters learn that the Duke is supposed to marry her step-daughter. We then enter the will they won't they of a forbidden romance as both characters fight their attraction for each other. I had so much fun reading this book. Diana Quincy continues to prove why historical romances should be ready by everyone and are can give the same feelings as contemporary.

Everyone is this book was yearning for the wrong person and it was delicious to read.

This is how I learned most white babies are born without hair on their heads...insane.

Lovedddddddddd πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ

I enjoyed the general premise of this and the FMC was a great protagonist, but it felt a touch too long. The third act conflict felt useless and the relationship development suffered for it. It was a lot of run to read, but needed to be tightened up to make it great.

Her Night with the Duke has one of my least favourite tropes: one night stand. But I really liked it here because it turned out Leela had a one night stand with the Duke of Huntington, her stepdaughter's soon-to-be fiancΓ© πŸ˜‚

Neither Hunt nor Leela had been completely honest about their true identities that night at the country inn. So you can imagine the shock when they meet each other at Leela's in-laws. Leela's reaction was unexpectedly funny πŸ˜‚ Oh, and if you're worried about the stepdaughter situation, don't be. It resolved itself cleanly, without any toxic drama. But it did create some delicious light angst and tension between Hunt and Leela 🀭

I thoroughly enjoyed this romance. I was pleasantly surprised by Hunt's honesty and straightforwardness with Leela. He was so open about his feelings for Leela and he was willing to discuss and resolve their complicated situation. I honestly thought Hunt would end up brooding and pretending nothing had happened. But it was Leela who tried to run away and forget what had happened.

Given the time period, there is overt racism and orientalism targeting Leela because obviously society doesn't think an Arab woman should be among their ranks. But there is none of that "you're not good enough to be my wife" bullshit from Hunt. He wanted to wife her from the beginning 😘

All this to say that Hunt surprised me in a really good way. He was guided by his emotions, even though he'd made a reputation for himself as a serious Duke. As for Leela, she was pretty much guided by logic, which makes sense given how society viewed her.

Leela and Hunt went around in circles a bit, but I think Leela's reservations were justified because she had very clear ideas for her future as a writer and she stuck by them. It took some time for these two to find the perfect balance between emotion and logic, so they could finally come to an agreement about their future and live happily ever after. There's a very delicious grovel scene that happens during this journey and it pretty much lives rent free in my brain.

My most favourite thing about this book is Leela's journey to learn more about her Palestinian heritage and meeting her Palestinian family members for the first time. During this process, she also learned more about her late Palestinian mother, who had kept Leela and her brother away from their Palestinian side of the family.

Overall, this was a great diverse historical romance, and I'm definitely gonna be binge reading this series.
