I was hoping for something a lot better for a Hard-Boiled graphic novel, but this was not worth reading; I almost gave up on it myself.

The art is good but the direction is terrible! Panels feel disjointed, it’s impossible to tell what’s going on with all the random close-ups. Scene transitions happen basically at random— at one point it cuts to a new scene at the end of a chapter, with the overlapping voice-over having nothing to do with the new scene. But then nothing happens in the new scene until the next volume, so really there was no point in transitioning. To top it all off the plot has not even come close to coming together by the end of this volume. I can’t even tell if we’re at the inciting incident. The main character is apparently a private detective but we’ve barely seen any of him. Sorry, can’t recommend this.
