So I am proud to say that I am a Lilly Singh fan. But as a booklover, I would like to clarify here that this fact did not cloud my judgement about her book.
As I mentioned in my video review as well, this is not an autobiography. I say this because I thought, that maybe this was a book about Lilly's amazing life. Thats the reason I had pre-ordered it.
This, instead, is a self help book in which Lilly has imparted her pearls of wisdom regarding what one should do to be successful in life, which I think is pretty great too considering her own success as a youtube sensation is pretty phenomenal.
This book has four sections :
1) Master Your Mind
2) Hustle Harder
3) Make Heads Turn
4) Be a Unicorn
Each of these four sections have a number of chapters where Lilly tells us that what we should do in order to achieve these things. At the end of each of these four parts there is an "Out of the Blue" section where she has talked about her personal life and how she was once a depressed person and how now she is a happy and positive person.
In the beginning itself, it has been mentioned that this book doesn't contain any "fluffy qoutes" or any escalators to success but follows an extremely practical approach.
And that is exactly how it was in this book.
Although I must mention here that despite talking about success in a rational way, this book still did make me very happy and motivated me a great deal.
As a youtuber(booktuber) myself, I found this book extra helpful in many ways . Though obviously even if you are not a youtuber, that doesn't mean that you won't find this book useful.
Infact, what are you waiting for? GO get your hands on this wonderful book !

I really liked this book. Even though a lot of Lilly's experience relates to her career, the book is still relevant to the general public and her tips can be implemented in our daily lives. There are many questions she asked herself and the readers (through exercises) that can help narrow down thoughts, goals etc. Helpful when your mind is extra cluttered.
I jumped on the Lilly Singh bandwagon a little late. I've never seen her youtube channel and I've had this book for a long time before actually reading it. It wasn't until she starting making headlines in 2019 after getting her own talk show did I finally wake up and take notice. Not only is she a badass woman with amazing ambition and drive, she's Canadian and from my city, Toronto. I'm appalled it took me so long to support her.
I've read a bunch of books like this, that promise to give you insight on how to be a better you, a better boss, achieve your goals etc. Lilly's humour and down to earth observations makes this an enjoyable read that stands out from the rest.
It highlights her personal accomplishments, but does so in a way that details how you can mimic her steps to get yourself where she is. Well, your own version of where she is. She makes her huge hustle seem almost easy and second nature, though doesn't at all hide the fact that she put in hard work to get there. She just makes it seem somewhat obtainable for your average person.
Her determination and baddassery is admirable and inspiring. I'm kind of obsessed with her overall positive attitude and wisdom. I don't care that I'm late to the game, I think I've jumped on the wagon just as she's hitting her stride and now I have all this content to devour.

I was curious about this book because I used to watch Lily’s YouTube videos but this did not hit the mark for me.
I’ll start with the good:
+ Easy to read
+ Short digestible chapters
+ Spade to do some reflection yourself
Now to why I didn’t enjoy this book: it very much it about hustle culture which if it’s your vibe, you might enjoy this…for me it wasn’t it. However my bigger issues were with the fact that I felt this book was all over the place and she did not dive deep into any of the advise. Additional I feel like there was no nuance to some of the sections which I felt was necessary.
Additionally even though it was easy to read, it read quite childish at time with all the unnecessary extra commentary.

In How to Be a Bawse Lilly Singh gives advice to stay motivated, be organized, avoiding distractions, and other things, mostly based on her own experience. Lilly, if you don't know is a Youtuber who does mostly comedy videos.
I started watching Lilly's videos not that long ago so I'm not a dedicated fan all that much, but I was on Audible, and I saw that the audiobook was narrated by Lilly herself, so I decided to pick it up. I was really pleasantly surprised by this book I was expecting it to be hilarious (which it was), but I wasn't expecting to be motivated by it. A lot of the advice that Lilly gives was really helpful and something that I will definitely try to apply to my life.

One of the most inspirational, motivational, funny and true book I have read in a long time.
A must read for everyone, especially teens and young adults.

This book has inspired me to work hard and be a better human in general.
I have never really read a self-help book of any kind but I had a general idea of how it should be. Lilly has included 50 quick chapters in this book, each containing a practical lesson to be learned (mostly which we are aware of but may or may not apply in our life). She has included her real life experiences and quotes by people who also have given her a reality check. Although I do wish some of the chapters were longer, I think she has done justice.
Give this book a try. And I don't mean read it to find faults and criticize. Read it with an open mind to learn and understand what is being conveyed. And try to imply the lessons in your life. Continue to inspire and be inspired.

I don’t generally like professional advice books but this one was positive and focused on kindness, which is a nice change from the dog-eat-dog examples we’ve seen in the past. There are a ton of short chapters but I found myself breezing through it. I ended the book feeling happy. That made me bump it up from 3* to 4*.
I got the just if it - don’t really need to finish it
