This anthology is a lot of fun! Thankfully, because I have not, you don't need to have read the original Poe stories in order to enjoy these retellings. If you do want to, the second half of the book has the original stories.

It's an anthology, so I liked some stories and didn't like others, but the diversity definitely got major points from me and left me at the very least liking all of them. I really enjoyed the ones retold for current times, as I think those are very clever. All in all, it's a great starting point for people who've never read Edgar Allen Poe, and a fun change of pace for long time fans.

I’ve had this book for a year or so now snd it’s been collecting dust in my shelf the entire time. However, I’m so glad I picked it up! Honestly I love the way some of these authors rewrite the stories. They really did you Edgar justice in this. Personally, my favourite was Lygia because AAHHHHHH SAD. One problem I had was that some of the stories like the bank of usher were just too long. It might just be my attention span but a book rather has to be short or long and I feel that some of these were in that weird grey area, though that just a personal preference. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I’d recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Edgar’s work

I borrowed this from the library thinking that it was just the re-imagined stories based on Edgar Allen Poe's stories and poems, come to find out that it's not only the re-imagined stories but also the original stories as well.  I really enjoyed the re-imagined stories and would love to have them in physical form.

I really enjoyed the narrations from all of the different narrators, and the stories that they read were fantastic. I read a bunch of EAP stuff back in high school and some of those stories still pop up in my head, especially late at night, and it's heading in to the creepy liminal time after midnight.

Recommend if you like reimagined stories and poetry.

13 short stories based on 13 of Poe's tales
I liked that the original tales were at the end - some of them seemed more parallel than others. All of them took their own paths while retaining a bit of the gothic macabre of Poe.

Honestly, the stories were okay, I get that they’re retellings, but they didn’t feel like they connected with what Poe wrote. Even in modern settings the original stories would still work with some changes. I really just don’t know how to feel about this anthology, but it could be that I bias because I’m a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe.

Loved the audiobook readers! I already enjoy Poe and his gothic darkness, and this collection of modern writers choosing a Poe classic to be inspired by was brilliant! Each voice was something fresh and interesting. After many of the stories (and one poem) I had to stop and absorb/process before moving on to the next. Sometimes for many days. Beautiful, funny, surprising, affecting. I think Poe would read many of these and see himself.
