Really liked the first half of the book the most. Great reminder to pursue adventure just maybe not this much.

An absolute stunner of a text. Beautiful and challenging without being self indulgent. Jenkins is a wordsmith and an observer in a way that challenges us without shaming us.  It lights a fire. Get this book.

Without all the religious questions that come back page after page, the book could have been much more pleasant to read. I liked the first part and very struggled when God and Jesus came along for the ride.

A wonderful book about a cycling adventure from Oregon to the southern tip of South America. It was a nice read. Perfect before-bedtime reading. Short chapters with plenty of adventure thrown in. The author's sexuality and struggles with religion were also layered (heavily) into the book. This added depth to the story, but also made it a bit of a "drag" (heavy) than the light-heartened tome I was looking for. It's very well written though, and I will look forward to reading more of the authors works as he comes out with them.

This was not a typical book for me and not something I’d usually choose to read, but at the recommendation of a friend, I did. It’s the true story of a 30 year old who decides to embark upon a bike ride from Oregon to Patagonia (with no biking experience!). Along the way he meets amazing people and has memorable experiences. He details the beauty of nature in one paragraph, questions his religion in the next, then tackles the ideas and experiences with friends, family, and sexuality. I felt it to be very honest, refreshing, to the point, and really just lovely.

Some of his journey is captivating but a lot of it is just filler to make the book longer.

2.5 stars. Started off exciting and interesting then it kind of fell flat and seemed like more of a stream of consciousness than the adventure memoir I thought I was getting. However, there is no doubt he is a talented and beautiful writer, I just think that the subject matter fell a bit dry towards the middle of the book.
