3.62 AVERAGE

If you only read one book this summer about WWII-era sailors helping sentient cat-monkeys fight oceangoing velociraptors on an alternative Earth, make it this one.

I really liked the hell out of this book, and I'm excited about the rest of the series. It's like a good mix of Hunt for Red October and King Kong. Certainly not for everyone, but I dug it

Popcorn.

3.5/5 What happens when a shipload of WWII soldiers winds up in primitive parallel universe? I love the idea but the execution could have been better. Tons of promise and I’m interested to see where the story goes. I had lofty expectations after reading the Lost Regiment, a series that pulls off this same type of alternate history really well.

Guilty pleasure kinda read, but a damn good one.

Fantastic book. I don't think I'll continue the series.

This was a long read, but the last third of the book picked up quite nicely - so much so I'm planning on continuing with the series.

I'm going to be honest, I picked up this series at a charity sale and had no idea what to expect, but it sounded like it'd maybe be US Navy vs some kaiju-inspired monsters .... I was not far off, but also nowhere near what this actually was.

I can't say I'd recommend it, but it wasn't bad, once you get past the first two thirds...

ehhhhhhh, it's fine. I might read the other one at some point.

I liked this book. I started it over a year ago and came back to it decently. I usually hate books featuring catlike species, but this one is well written. The battle scenes are excellent.
