This was a quick and enjoyable atmospheric gothic horror. The writing style flowed well and I was able to picture this book perfectly while reading. The story was fast paced and intriguing and the goreyness of the story was well done. I enjoyed the casual queerness of this book. The relationship being WLW adds to the seduction the author tries to create with the whole blood stuff. If it was MLW the vibes wouldn’t be the same.

3.5. I don’t know how to feel about it. This book was all head games no vampires, just the depraved & decadent. The exposition up to the meat of the plot seemed drawn out to fluff pages because nowhere else in the book does Marion dote/romanticize scenery so heavily. Although the book isn’t marketed as a mystery it contains several & leaves a major one - what are the people who depend on consuming blood to exist- unsolved. They don’t use the word vampire once so… a bit catfish. Foreshadowing carried this book to a disorienting extent but it was the only thing that keep me reading when the story slowed. None of the characters were particularly likable but then again we didn’t really get to know-know them because the energy is so foreboding. It also gave me cruel intentions/dangerous liaisons-Les Liaisons dangereuses in a way too.

Oookay, so this is definitely a book that I never would have picked up myself, but it was recommended to me and I'm a sucker for anything that remotely feels like it belongs in the horror genre.

I have to say, I LOVE Henderson's writing style. Henderson seriously grabbed a hold of my collar and engulfed me into the book. Marion's character was relatable even though we have nothing in common, and I couldn't wait to find out what the hell she was going to do on the next page.

This book fell seriously short for me in one way and is the entirety of my rating. The whole book comes down to the last 3 chapters. It's like 250 pages of build up followed by 15 pages of conflict and 5 pages of resolution. I just didn't get enough substance, suspense or hang time at all as a reader. I never feels this way, but this book was too short. And it was too short in all the wrong places.

It’s good. Very slow at the first half but may bc I didn’t read it all at once . The latter half is soo interesting it grasped my attention all the way to the end.
