“He’s safe, and I'm free; but you have left me to struggle so long against death, alone, that I feel and see only death."

you think the racism wouldve gotten him but no it was a situationship now he has to ruin everyones life

new favorite! didn’t want it to end but at the same time i did cuz all the characters were miserable the entire time

I loved this book. Even though the main characters were often repulsive, I found the story fascinating and impossible to put down.

It is presented as a tale of love and revenge, but I can’t describe Heathcliff’s feelings for Catherine as “love.” To me, Edgar truly loved her, while Heathcliff was only obsessed. His actions can’t be justified. He was cruel, blinded by anger, and consumed by his thirst for revenge. He never considered Catherine’s feelings. If he had truly loved her he would not have hurt the people she cared about: her brother, her husband and even her innocent daughter. That is not love, but obsession. Edgar’s feelings on the other hand, were pure.

What fascinated me most was how Emily Bronte managed to make such dark, violent characters and situations so compelling. The atmosphere of the novel is haunting, filled with storms, wild landscapes, and raw emotions that reflect the characters inner turmoil. There’s a constant tension between love and cruelty, passion and destruction, that makes the story both disturbing and unforgettable.

I think that’s what makes Wuthering Heights so powerful: it’s not a simple romance, but a study of obsession, revenge, and the destructive power of unchecked emotions. Bronte forces the reader to question what love really means and whether passion without compassion can ever be true love.
