DNF @ 11% I just cannot do it.
I don't mind second chance romances if there is o cheating in the previous chance. I cannot stand cheating, I just don't want to read her forgiving him and lowering herself just because his character sucks.
I suspect this will be due to her being depressed over not having kids and shutting him out. Boo hoo. Get better men. Period. If that makes you cheat then the marriage is done anyway.
This is what I get for seeing a book hyped on an fb video.

I am not giving with these characters at the moment. This man is screaming at this woman, a woman he was whispering sweet nothings to yesterday, about his marriage ending as if he didn't play a part in the whole thing. That for me was the last straw. He seems like a POS and I don't want to see him have a happy ending forcing his wife to take him back. Yuck.
I heard a great review for this, i love amnesia trope and the audio was free so i decided to give it a go but honestly i wasn’t impressed.
Im not a fan of the cheating trope but surprisingly that wasnt my issue with this book. The issue was the writing in general. I just wasn’t crazy about it and there was sex scene after sex scene. It felt so repetitive.
Do these people not have jobs? Hobbies?

So the premise of this book is that a woman gets a call to say her soon-to-be-ex husband has been in an accident. They separated because six months ago he CHEATED ON HER and then CONTINUED TO SEE ‘other woman’ and MAKES HER HIS GIRLFRIEND. But he’s lost the last two years of his memory and thinks he’s still married. And that’s the ONLY REASON they get back together - because he forgot he cheated and has a new girlfriend. I could rant for much longer about this book but anything else would be spoilers. I hate that the wife is blamed for her husband cheating and told
to take him back because he’s ‘going through a lot’. Also he is so rude to his girlfriend he doesn’t remember… why’s it HER fault they’re together?
Olivia and Bennett
Interracial relationship, memory loss, second chance, cheating.
Starting with the prologue, why did she even go to the hospital? The hospital should have called his mom or his girlfriend. I would’ve been like, nope! He’s someone else’s problem now! That started me off with a bad taste in my mouth for Bennett. I honestly did not want to keep reading.
I really hated every character in this book. Caroline and Amanda (Bennett’s mom and mistress)- for obvious reasons. Both Bennett and Wren for being steamrolling, gaslighting, manipulative assholes. And even Olivia for being weak enough that she could easily be steamrolled and tricked! (I know, let’s not blame the victim but I just can’t like her). Alyssa was the only one with half a brain! And sometimes she pissed me off too! I wanted to tear my hair out for the whole book!
His excuse for cheating on her was “I just needed someone to care about my feelings.” Are you fucking kidding me? And then he gets his memory back and DOESN’T tell her!?!? He is the most selfish liar I’ve ever read about and I hate him with a passion.
I’ve read several books that had cheating in them and it doesn’t automatically make me hate a book. Yes, people can move on and have a happy relationship after infidelity but this wasn’t a good example of any sort of healthy relationship.
The sex scenes were super hot but they just continued to make me mad so I didn’t even give them a 🔥 rating.
I honestly can’t believe I even finished the book.

all of the characters were major red flags.
This could have been a 5 stars read if it had been a bit longer. I usually struggle with novellas and shorter books because I end up feeling things didn't happen in the time they were supposed to. In this book, Bennett and Olivia obviously needed time to work through all the messy things in their relationship.
Also, Bennett's excuse for cheating on Olivia in the past was just rubbish. Olivia was depressed and didn't know how to make everything right. She was sick and needed a lot of help. But even she saw how much she had hurt him (albeit unwillingly) and felt sorry for that. Bennett was just stuck with the "I felt lonely and you didn't let me be there for you" speech", hence blaming her for his cheating. Excuse me, but that was all on you!
