This is a safe fantasy-romance to read. It’s kind of like if Throne of Glass and FBAA had a love child. The cast is diverse and filled with lovable characters. I would have liked to see more banter between Remy and Hale though.

It initially feels like it's setting up to be an enemies to lovers but it was very much an insta-love which I'm not a fan of at all. Their relationship feels a flat and underdeveloped too. Because of that I felt no connection to the love interest. He's just kind of...there. Besides that, all of the plot twists were also very predictable. I guessed most of the big ones in the first few chapters which was kind of disappointing. I like unexpected reveals and nothing was unexpected. Getting a little nitpicky here, I didn't really like the main character that much. I didn't hate her but she felt very judgmental. Not in a "my life's in danger and I need to be wary of everyone way" but more so an "I'm better than everyone" way. It also seemed like she just instantly fell in love and started doing everything for a man. It wasn't the worst book I've ever read by any means but I definitely struggled to get it finished. I was really excited to read this book so I'm kind of bummed that I didn't like it as much as I thought.

What can I say about this book to express how much I enjoyed it without giving everything away?

Firstly I read this book as an ARC, with the promise to leave an honest review of it.

The High Mountain Court is full of all the things about Fantasy that I love. Magic, quests, stunning setting.

I will admit that it did take me a little to get into the story, to start with. It seemed to take me a long time to read the first 40% of the book. I can't give any specific reasons why this was the case; I was lost in the story from the first sentence. I think it was more to do with the needed world and character building. But once I crossed that 40% mark, I inhaled every single word and quite suddenly found myself at the end, sadly.

The characters are strong and likeable. You easily get to know every character that walks onto the pages. However, one note I would share is that not all is what it seems. While some of these elements I figured out early on, others came about unexpectantly. I would very much love to go on an adventure with any one of the fantastic characters that litter the pages of this book.

Hale and Remy's relationship is stunning and magical. That's all I will share on that front.

The world is stunning, and the detailed descriptions paint a clear picture of the different kingdoms. You can feel the heat, the cold, smell the ocean and forests. All this makes it that much easier to get lost in the words.

I cannot wait to read the next book!

You will not regret picking this up.
