You can feel the love of fantasy as you read this book. It has tropes woven throughout but deals with them in a new way that makes you want to read more. Remy is a red witch, in a world where being a red witch is dangerous. When she is thrown into an adventure she never anticipated, Remy wonders if she could change the world for the better!

i absolutely adored this book! it was recommended to me as “if the series ‘a court of thorns and roses’ and ‘throne of glass’ actually had diversity” and my interest was piqued lol. i love those books but damn there is barely a crumb of representation in them. so i was thrilled to pick up this book and see so many groups represented! i cannot wait to see where this series goes. i immediately pre ordered the next book after i finished it. the main characters were diverse and interesting, the world building was beautiful, and the author definitely knows how to set a scene. and the romance was just *chefs kiss*. we love a non toxic male love interest who actually shows his emotions. it’s books like this that remind me why i love reading so much. i’m looking forward to future books by this author!!

It's fast paced ACOTAR with representation. The only reason I knocked half a star was because the book favors its pace at the loss of the characterization/interactions. If it was drawn out just a bit more (campfire scenes, couple excursions, etc) the book would have been an easy 10/10. As it is, it's already in at least my top 10 for this year.
