I do not like age gaps, but for the most part it was not terrible.
Remy being the missing fae princess was not that big of a surprise. However, her having two living siblings was a surprise. And then, her getting her brother back to just have him die was devastating. Her younger sister being so aloof was so sad. Her relationship with Heather and Frenin was so sweet, but Heather sacrificing herself to save Remy was heartbreaking. I liked the friendship that developed between Remy and Hale's warriors. And that the prince of the North being an ally was surprising. Hale was great. I got over the age gap pretty quickly because he didn't treat her like she was only 19, and she acted older, mostly because of the trauma. Her taking her place as the Queen of the Mountain Court was a good ending and it set things up nicely for a sequel.
This had action, adventure, revenge, romance, and magic. If it weren't for the age gap it would have been a 5* read. However, I cannot wait to read the next one!

Easy, fun read. I forgot how to adult and finished this book instead of doing anything that I needed to do. Enemies to lovers, fake dating, one horse - this book has all the goods. Can’t wait for book 2!

I LOVED the magic system in this book. One of my biggest icks when reading fantasy is when all the magic systems and important details are dumped on you in the beginning. I can never manage to remember it all, but this story DOES NOT have that. The author did really well in weaving in the important details into the plot and not drowning the reader in information that isn't relevant to that part of the plot.
I'm fortunate enough to be friends with the author on Tik Tok and had a great time pestering her/chatting with her about a certain part that had me sobbing in my room at 4 am.
Overall, this story was enthralling and I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy with incredible chemistry between the MC and Love interest. Hale is definitely one of my top book BFs.

Bri is a thousand percent the loml and I cannot wait for her book.

P.S loving the badass female characters.

There was great representation and it made me feel seen in so many ways.

The sudden reveal that Remy was actually a fae in glamour for the majority of the story felt veru rushed. Other than that, the whole book was a really good intro the the series and the world! Plus, really cool non-binary character :)
