This was a fun adventure into Numberland. I really enjoyed the history of maths explained in the book and the people that the author met along the way. There were several bits that got read out because I was so surprised/impressed by some of the facts. (Some of it was even vaguely familiar from school days:).

Very, very, very good! I was already familiar with many of the themes of the book, but the way they are described here was so fresh and, well, easy that it was like discovering them again from the start. Everyone who has even a marginal interest in mathematics should definitely read this! Is really fun, engaging and interesting from the first to the last page.

Excellent overview of some interesting histories of math.

Never knew about a Menger sponge, now I want to 3D print one! And x^8 + y^8=1 looks like a square when plotted. And the bizarre folding of origami and the potential for self constructing robots is awesome and scary at the same time. Fibonacci will always be king in my book!

This made me nostalgic for teaching high school math. I always tried to give students some background on the history of mathematics as well as the mechanics (no, they weren't really interested... sigh), and I found a wealth of amusing and informative tidbits here.

Had to take a break from reading this book because it was just a little too much but came to it a year later. If you like math or are even a little curious

A few questionable choices in prose, and some of the exposition could have been slightly improved, but on the whole a good pop-math book.

A truly excellent book for anybody, but especially worth reading for those who think they have no interest in mathematics: if you can read this and come away without feeling at least a little more positive about the intrigue, wonder and usefulness of this most misunderstood of subjects then I can only assume you had the book upside down the whole time.
