Simply beautiful! ððĶââŽðŠķðŪð
I actually listed the incorrect but similar book title in my "currently reading" list for the last month and never noticed. Ooops. So that book, The Girl Who Swallowed the Moon is now on my TBR list, and this one I actually read out loud to my 10 year old son over the course of the last month.
I really liked it, thought it drew beautiful images, had wonderful characters, and an interesting plot. My son liked it too, but thought it lagged a little in the middle. The section after Luna turned from 6 years old until she was 12 1/2 seemed to drag the longest. The action picked up to a nearly frantic pace near the end, so we read a huge chunk on the last night.
We loved Fryian and Glerk, for sure, and Xan and Luna were also really cool. My son had very mixed feelings about Antain. It was interesting timing, my son's 4 grade class had sent a note that they were starting to talk about puberty and related topics, and Luna was turning 12 and 13 and facing similar issues, so that was actually timely. This was very beautiful, but it was a little longish for the middle grades level. But my son would much rather talk about this than the bird and the bees.

I finished this book with sheer will power.
Not a terrible book just terrible for me.
Way too long for what it was.
The premise was interesting but ya, big nope for this one.

Oh my gosh, this book. It is so much more than the sum of it's parts.
No surprise, I loved Fyrian, but when have I not loved a dragon?
I tried listening to the audiobook, but I was distracted and could immediately tell that this was a story I didn't want to miss a moment of. Now that I've read it, I'm definitely going to be visiting it again and I think I'll give the audiobook a try this time. With a little more focus, hopefully!
Luna and Xan are so sweet. The kind of relationship I wish I could have had with a grandparent, but the love for each other shines through so strongly.
The Protectorate is a hard place to go back to, with its drudgery and dark cloud hanging over it. It's population of curiously uncurious people, who are resigned to their lot in life. But all paths come together, in an ending that is a little bittersweet, but beautiful and heartfelt.

I listened to this on Audible. The story telling is so wonderful. It brought me back to when I was a child and my parents would rad a bedtime story. I loved everything bout this book.
