Interesting story - what an idea, drinking star and moon light! I love how poetry is woven throughout the story. The final poem from Glerk brough tears to my eyes.
There is good insight to be found in The Girl Who Drank the Moon. For ex, the idea of drinking or taking in light and love juxtaposed against the idea of eating or taking in sorrow and pain.

Kelly Barnhill is one of my favourite authors!!! She makes fantasy feel real. Her characters all stay so close to my heart. I’ve probably read this book 5 or 6 times. There’s a reason it has so many awards.

It is a fantasy book with threads of Uprooted. I have read several reviews where people feel this is simultaneously too young and too old for the intended audience, and I can see where they are coming from. I am enjoying it but I wish it had more focus.

I happened to see this book when I went thrifting one day and thought it sounded interesting, so I bought it.  I just finished and I was so pleasantly surprised.  This was a magical book.  The main characters (the witch, the child, the bog monster, and the perfectly tiny dragon) are whimsical and and wholesome and you can't help but love them.  They live next to a small town and the townspeople are full of sorrow.  The story that unfolds is like a fairytale and keeps you wanting to turn the pages.  Highly recommend.

This is the most beautifully written thing I have read in a long time. So many students loving it this year too. It's magical.

Eh! I started out loving this book but quickly lost interest! I did finish it, but I didn't love it!

Beautiful, lyrical, sad and happy---the best kind of story to lose yourself in on a snow day.

Fantastic book. Would recommend to boys and girls of any age. Has strong characters, good message and compelling plot.
