I haven't read a middle grade book in a long time, but this was really delightful!

It's a whimsical story about magic and joy and love, and I loved it. The writing style relied heavily on repetitiveness, which annoyed me slightly, but it worked in favor of the book. The characters were fun to read, and their growth and development was surprising in this book.

I was enthralled by the lovely language. The chapter titles definitely drew me in. And the concept of the Sorrow Eater was captivating. What a lovely children’s novel with dark overtones.

Oozing with kindness and compassion, this was a delightful antidote to all the shit going on in the world and all the apocalyptic books out there. Looking forward to reading more from Barnhill!

I thought this book was Simply Perfect

Well that was lovely. ❤️❤️

Loved this one. Got the audiobook and I just loved the words and the cadence of the book. Such a great fairytale story. Magic and witches and dragons and monsters. And words. Loved it.
