This book is definitely a favorite! The characters were well written and I deeply felt connected to all of them. It was lovely to see the perspective of the village council, the mother, Luna, and the witch. The story of Luna and the witch is absolutely compelling and the writing felt magical. This book is a must for all fairy tale lovers!

It was just a bit too obvious, and I just wasn't hooked.

A re-read for book club!

It took me a little longer to get into it this time around, but the ending is such a good payoff - I love how all of the stories connect and intersect. Barnhill's writing is stunning, and I love all of our characters, especially the Simply Enormous Dragon and Glerk.

Beautiful story, beautifully narrated. Fantasy and magic but a gentler adventure.

I think this story would benefit from a quick, continuous read, but unfortunately, I kept putting it down. The part that I read in one chunk, the last 40% or so, I liked a whole lot better than the middle.

I loved Xan, Fyrian, and Glerk. Luna a little less. I was hoping to connect with this like I did with [b:Uprooted|22544764|Uprooted|Naomi Novik|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1480121122s/22544764.jpg|41876730], but this wasn't quite on that level (though to be fair, that's a more complex novel for adults).

❤️❤️❤️ Love is infinite. And also the little dragon character and Glerk are so cute. Good soul-read.

Really lovely book! My son says it is 5 stars and “terrific” we both enjoyed so much of the imagery in this book (paper birds! Moon magic!), and had so much fun talking about it. I found it suffered a bit from having side characters that I found more interesting than the main character. But what a terrific villain! And what beautiful Biblical moments and themes. Kind of reminded me of Madeline L’engle’s books

An enjoyable fairy tale with some funny moments and a number of metaforical situations that unfortunately drags on a bit too much without the story broadening or deeping over time. The book is aimed at a younger audience, but that doesn't justify its predictable storyline and its lack of exciting developments to keep to keep the reader hooked. It felt twice as long as it needed to be...
