Felt the story was hyper fixated on motherhood and conceiving children. Maybe it was a commentary on the identity of women, but it just felt like the characters were all flat and none felt like real or relateable people as they're only identifiable by their ability to conceive or not

My type of book for sure!
Whitney is an upper class mom who doesn’t feel motherly and surely doesn’t want to be a mom with a fake appearance to young twins, a son Xavier and husband Jacob.
Mara is the neighbor married to Albert who died and she is happy about it because Albert never treated their special needs child with loving care.
Rebecca is also a neighbor and doctor who can not have children with her husband Ben. They have had 5 miscarriages.
Blair is a neighbor married to Aiden and best friend to Whitney. She has a daughter named Chloe and the perfect mom role model. She consistently thinks he’s cheating and even with Whitney which she finds out he is not but he is a cheater in the end with a girl from a party we find out.
It turns out Xavier falling out of his window in the middle of the night was because Whitney was in their shed having sex with Ben! When he wakes up from the coma at the end, he asks his mom “ what will they do to you when they know the truth?”

The ending totally got me! This great psychological thriller was worth every page.
The ending….last chapter and epilogue made this a 4.5 read for me. Loved it! I don’t mind so much that it was a little slow in the middle because I really like Audrain’s writing. I enjoyed this book.

Moderate: Emotional abuse
Not what I thought it would be like after reading The Push, however, I really enjoyed this! Felt like version of desperate housewives but juicier.
I liked how chapters were named from different characters. I enjoyed the little mystery that was running along with it and i LOVED the final few sentences with that little bombshell! Little audible gasp moment!
