This book was very amazingly written, very much conveying the raw emotion throughout the book. It does not make me want to get married ;-;

Holy shit. I loved this book so much.

Pros:
Fantastic glimpse into human nature
Makes you wonder until the end (and even that made me pause)
Character development assures that you dislike or like each character
Writing style keeps you engaged the whole way through
Non-linear

Cons:
Nothing specific for me

Fav Quote:
"The world is made up of the enviable and those who envy."

Oof reading this having just had a baby was a questionable decision, as was listening to it on audio (the narrator’s interpretation was off imo, and the words deserve to be savored more than audio allows), but wow. Ashley Audrain is a poet.

CW for miscarriage & child injury

3.5 rounded up. I didn't love it, I was expecting more thriller but it was just suburban sadness and a depressing read. I did enjoy the final line and thought that was well deserved, so at least it had an ending.

Kept my interest but didn't love all the extra long inner thoughts and monologues, got long winded. Cheating spouses, jealous neighbors, bratty troubled kids and good bratty kids. Just so so

4.5 stars

that freaking final sentence. ashley audrain does it again!
