This was also incredibly sad, but so ridiculously long. I’m happy Shannon got a happy ending

I wanted to love this…but I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I like Johnny and Shannon’s story. I’m a sucker for the guy saving a girl from an abusive situation. And overall the storyline is phenomenal…but the writing…not so much.
I feel like this story dragged on sooooo long. Like there isn’t a need for it to be so long. Lots of filler information and unnecessary scenes. I think if the book would’ve been shorter and more concise I would’ve loved it.
I think another thing that threw me off was the fact these kids are in high school yet Johnny seems like he’s more college-aged and Shannon is made out to be this tiny little girl.
Unfortunately the writing and length made me no want tolerate other stories. I would eventually like to read Joey and Aoife’s, but I know It’ll break me if I can get through it.
